When four Federal Cabinet Ministers and 2 local MPs announced just over a year ago that the threat of a Pickering Airport was over and the lands would be transferred to Rouge National Urban Park, farmers, environmentalists and concerned citizens rejoiced with standing ovations.  Now sprawl advocates are promoting commercial development of the Transport Canada Pickering Lands.   

Urge federal leaders to protect the Pickering Lands and fully transfer them to Rouge National Urban Park.     

As Trump threatens us, Ford’s response is to grab Trump-like powers by proposing a new omnibus bill that if passed would gut protections for vulnerable wildlife, fast track mining and development projects, trample Indigenous rights, silence local voices and create law-free zones for trusted proponents or areas as designated by cabinet.

This fall, the Ontario government followed through on its proposal to change Ontario’s park legislation to remove most of the beach and the prime nesting habitat from the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Other parks in your area may be at risk now that the door has been opened to removing parkland without due process. 

Take action and tell Premier Ford: Wasaga Beach and Ontario’s parks must be protected, not carved up for development
